Angie Thomas will close out Fall for the Book's spring programming on Thursday, April 25th at 7:30 p.m. in the Stacy Sherwood Community Center in Fairfax, VA by discussing her #1 New York Times bestselling novel The Hate U Give, and her new book On the Come Up with critic Bethanne Patrick. Widely known as the Black Lives Matter-inspired YA novel, The New York Times has called The Hate U Give “a stunning, brilliant, gut-wrenching novel that will be remembered as a classic of our time.” For its “pointed examinations of gun violence, racial profiling, and political activism,” Entertainment Weekly says it is “the best—and most important—book you’ll read this year. Her highly anticipated second novel, On the Come Up follows Bri, a girl who wants to be the greatest rapper of all time. When her first song goes viral--for the wrong reasons-- she has to fight for her dream. This event is sponsored by the Fairfax County Public Library.
